Galt's Gulch was originally founded by "Midas" Mulligan after he withdrew from an increasingly hostile post-industrial America. Midas had a simple goal, inspired by conversations with his good friend John Galt, to live a productive life without the necessity to support those who were unwilling to earn their way in life. Midas purchased a large section of land in Colorado, largely believed to be uninhabitable due to the mountainous and rocky appearance. Mr. Mulligan, a prudent investor, was already aware that the area was an untapped cornucopia of potential in every respect. For some time, Mr. Mulligan lived part-time outside of his new domain, however he was soon approached by other friends of John Galt with requests to purchase homesteads within his land. Seeing the potential to make his new home self-sustaining and be able to occupy it full time, Midas began offering plots of land to sale for those introduced to him by Galt. The town of Galt's Gulch has been growing at a sustainable and healthy rate ever since.
